Morgan Bassichis and Friends: An Evening of Comedy, Music, and Burlesque (2023)
Conveying Humor in Comtemporary Art Venue
As part of Morgan Bassichis: More Little Ditties, the first institutional exhibition by comedic performer Morgan Bassichis, an evening of comedy featured the exhibiting artist Morgan Basschis comedians and performance artists River L. Ramirez, Una Osato and Michi Osato. The evening focused on politics, education, absurdity, sex, and failure. To convey the sense of humor, warmth, and playfulness of the Bassichis work, I looked at gradient, checker pattern and comic book bubbles to bring in the element of kitschiness in the contemporary art setting.
